Disneyland Railroad and Rivers of America Attractions Return to Disneyland Park this Summer with New Magic
When the iconic Disneyland® Railroad and the Rivers of America attractions return to Disneyland Park this summer, you will discover new magic aboard these classic experiences. As seen in the artist’s rendering above (courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering), the gorgeous new north bank of the Rivers of America will feature a beautiful new waterfront and an elevated trestle over which the iconic Disneyland Railroad will travel.
The Rivers of America will continue to celebrate the Mississippi, Columbia, Missouri and Rio Grande rivers, enhanced now with a new Columbia Gorge section, highlighted by thundering waterfalls – signaling the return of large waterfalls to the rivers. Longtime Disneyland park fans will remember Big Thunder River Waterfall and Twin Sisters Waterfall; five spectacular new waterfalls along the Rivers of America harken back to these favorites – all on display for guests aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes.
You can also experience these features from aboard the Disneyland Railroad, which will travel across the rocks on a trestle that will even extend onto the river, providing a breathtaking view of the new waterfalls. And, for the first time ever, the Disneyland Railroad will be making a left-hand turn as it circles the park.
In addition to the new waterfalls, you will spot some familiar faces along the Rivers of America as well as throwbacks to Frontierland’s past. The Indian Village, now in a new location, will include a more prominently featured Shaman, seen telling the story of how the hummingbird taught the Indian chief to make a flute.
These enhanced features are returning to Disneyland later this summer.
First Look at Interior of Wine Bar George at Disney Springs
We’re excited to share a first look at the interior of the new Wine Bar George at Disney Springs®. Opening in late 2017 at Walt Disney World® Resort, Master Sommelier George Miliotes will bring his expertise to the eponymous bar that will feature wines from famed growing regions in the United States and abroad – more than 100 selections by the bottle and glass.
Miliotes describes Wine Bar George as a “comfortable-yet-lively environment that’s reminiscent of a renovated winery.” The design for the 6,000-square-foot space features wood ceilings, concrete floors, warm lighting and a welcoming atmosphere.
Guests can order a glass of wine on tap at the bar, share a communal table for cheese and wine pairings, or taste through a flight of world-class Pinot Noir with a few sharable bites.
Disney fans may remember Miliotes from the opening of award-winning California Grill, where he ran the beverage program from 1995-2002. Now he’s back at Disney Springs as one of only 236 worldwide industry professionals certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers (and the only master somm-led bar in Florida).
Shareable plates will also be served including cheese and charcuterie that complement the wines, with local, seasonal features.
