Club Med Hurricane Irene Update

The following is an official release from Club Med, dated 8/26/2011 at 1pm CT:

Club Med resorts in the Dominican Republic, Bahamas and Turks & Caicos faired well in Hurricane Irene. None of the resorts sustained major damage and all guests and staff are safe. Resorts have resumed normal operations and will continue to welcome guests as scheduled.

Crisis teams were established in the resort, in the office in Miami and in France to monitor the storm and manage the situation. Extensive preparations were taken in the resorts to prepare for the storm and regular meetings were held with the staff and guests to keep them informed of the situation. Every resort had emergency materials including food, water, fuel, generators and satellite phones to handle emergencies. We are proud of the efforts of the remote and local teams in their continued superior handling of crisis situations and the efficient post-storm action that has allowed us to quickly resume resort operations and minimize the impact for our guests.
