cruise3sixty Buzz Word: “Foodways”

Today at the cruise3sixty conference in Fort Lauderdale, the buzz word was “Foodways.”

So what exactly does that mean?

The definition of “foodways” is: The intersection of a destination’s food, culture and history.

So how does this relate to cruises?

Well certainly food is big part of any cruise and typically you also see local cultures and learn about their history during a voyage. But what if you combined all three?

Did you know there are cruises that feature famous and award-winning chefs that travel onboard with you, conduct cooking demonstrations and classes and then take you on tours of the local eateries?

Are you a wine lover? Imagine cruising with an expert sommelier, enjoying wine tastings and food parings while onboard. Then, when you arrive in port, the wine guru is your guide through the vineyards.

Can you think of a type of food that’s NOT available on a cruise? Neither can we. And with over 30 cruise lines and more than 200 ships worldwide, we can send you (and your appetite) on an amazing culinary journey around the world.

So where will your foodways lead you?
